Question about the ability thief - says they can use it subsequent nights. Is that one shot or they can use it perpetually? Not clear from the wording.

The cult leader has four possible targets and has to get three of them? That's a razor edge of error and a real hard wincon. I'm not against it. I'm pointing it out. But the odds of the neutral winning are... very small. Better shot as survivor by far.

Been looking at this:

A Mentor is a role whose Night action is one of the following:

  • If the Mentor does not have a living Mentee, at Night they can recruit one.
  • If the Mentor does have a living Mentee, at Night they or their Mentee can kill someone (unless the Mentor already has a factional kill).
A Mentee is a player who has been recruited by a Mentor. They can talk to the Mentor at any time, but will die if the Mentor dies. (If the Mentee dies, that just frees up the Mentor to recruit someone else during the next Night.)

While these are not necessary facets of the role, it is particularly common for Mentors to be anti-Town and recruit Mentees to their anti-Town alignments. These are partly consequences of the role being designed to represent the most acceptable Cult.


Now, a few things I'd consider changed:

- No killing power
- A mentor gets two shots to recruit. One is before the game start. The other will come into affect if the Mentee dies.
- The Mentor will be given the fluff names to choose between (Probably the three ordinaries currently marked as recruitable)
- The Mentee will have their own role PM that will be sent if they have been chosen.
- The Mentee/Mentor will share a private chat.
- If all fluff named players are dead when the second shot is available, then the Mentor gets buffed. I'd prefer a non-killing power buff.
- Basic survivor wincon.

Now, would the mentee targets be aware of anything in their role PM that links to the mentor?

I'm going for no right now.

Also probably gonna change out the role cop, that and the matchmaker seems overly powerful informative roles

Hmm, why do you think you want to go the mentor/mentee route? I like the night zero action idea, but this is a new role to me so I'm having trouble picturing it functioning in this game.

I really like this weakened version of a Cult. While that comment about Cult was made during Console Wars, I think there will be enough time between it and your game's run.
I don't think their role PMs should hint at the existence of the Mentor in the design, just like the Overrider and the Vengeful shouldn't know they can end the cult in one swoop.

What happens to the Matchmaker if one of its targets during the day gets lynched? Another is RNG'd?

Yeah, the chat would not be made, though I'm not planning any restrictions on the command.


For example, if they change their targets right before Day End to someone not getting lynched, I'll accept it.

OK, I've made some tweaks.

- Ninja is 1-shot, cause I've decided that matchmaker doesn't get a track result back. This means that two scum are not trackable, so I'll weaken one of them. Town also have a sleepwalker which could negatively affect the tracker
- Added a roleblocker as the final scum role.


I feel okay with this setup, so if you both approve, I'll move onto role PMs and the like.


Who wants to do a banner?? a delightful brexit banner.

I've updatedthe Vengeful role PM.

Basically the vengeful can choose a target at any point in the day phase. This means if they aren't around for their lynch, they can still take a shot.

I'd clarify, for the Vengeful, that the most recent choice made on the day they're lynched will be killed. They can't choose someone on D1, get lynched on D2 and get that old target killed with them. Because someone will ask :P

The others are cool for me, let us know when the rest are done o/

Why was the Goon the only one to receive the factional kill command? I'd add that to the other scummates' PMs.

Also make sure that their win condition is "You win when your team hold 50% of the vote at the start of a day", that's the standard one we use.

A minor thing: I'd remove the "twice" in "Twice during a Night Phase (...)" in the Mentor's PM, because it can be read as "twice during the same night". Leaving it as "During a night phase (...)" is enough, since you already mentioned the role has 2 shots in the previous sentence.

The Mentee's win condition says "You win if you or your Mentor survive till the end of the game." but there's no way for the Mentee to remain alive after the Mentor is dead, so it's incorrect.
The only way for the Mentee to win is if the Mentor survives till the end - doesn't matter if the Mentee is dead or not, so the correct win condition would be "You win if your Mentor survives till the end of the game."

Final thing that I noticed is that the Mentor's PM doesn't mention that they can only have one Mentee at a time, only being able to use their second shot if the first Mentee is dead.

I'm pretty sure I'm not giving fake claims to scum this game, mainly because there's no coherent theme for people being certain alignments.

I was thinking of saying a sentence in scum thread hinting at this, but without being too blunt.


"There are no fake claims available in this game, as there is no importance to name and alignment." ?

I won't lie I am very interested in how Power Rangers goes.


I think this game could be perfect for anonymization.


If I do decide to do that, it should probably run a while after Power Rangers to keep it fresh.
