Unspecified location on the Moon:

Two Japanese astronauts stumble upon a strange rock cylinder with an evil looking gem on top of it. Unperturbed by this and not even bothering to question why this man-made object was on The Moon, the two immediately grasp the lid of the container and pry it open. The two stumble back in shock at this mysterious evil container that begins to crackle and spark with with energy as it shoots out multiple beams of light that form into horrifying monsters!

“Alpha, Rita has been freed from her prison on the Moon. Find me 5 MafiEra Players with attitude to become the legendary Power Rangers!”

The small robot companion known as Alpha 5 chatters a small ‘ai-yi-yi!’ at this horrible news, wondering how it was even possible that their perfect container for the evil Witch Rita Repulsa was even opened in the first place! Still, Zordon had ordered him to find him new Power Rangers and he wasn’t about to let him down!

Smashing his barely moving arms on the brightly colored desk, Alpha 5 quickly located the individuals Zordon would need to defeat the evil Witch. With the press of a button he teleported all five of these unsuspecting and unwilling Players to their location, not even bothering to warn them. In a brilliant flash of light they appeared, all in various sort of dress and disarray. One of them was even in a bath towel.

RetroMG, Grizzly, Hecht, Pedro, and CaptainNuevo all stood in the Command Center looking bewilderingly at the sight of a very excitable robot waving his arms and a large blue face in a tube staring down at them. Well, all except for Retro. He’d seen weirder over the years.

“Welcome to the Command Center! I am Zordon and this is Alpha 5. We are the protectors of the Power Coins and defenders of this world. You five have been chosen for your strength to become the Legendary Power Rangers! We need your help to stop Rita Repulsa, an evil witch who is bent on ruling this world for the power of darkness.”

Before Zordon could continue a hand shot up in the group. CaptainNuevo waved his hand in the air, the other clutching the bath towel to his body, as a worried look crossed over his face. “Hi. Listen, this sounds neat and all but is it train themed? It’s very important.”

Zordon blinked, his years as a being of pure energy and knowledge having not prepared him for such an...odd question.

“No, the Power Rangers derive their power from the great beasts that once roamed this world: the Dinosau-”

“Oh.” CaptainNeuvo replied as he lowered his hand and frowned, cutting off Zordon’s reply. “If that’s the case, can I be sent back? It’s Train Tunes Tuesday and I gotta make sure to post some sick tunes and I can’t do that with Dinosaurs and Power whatevers. I appreciate the offer but, no thanks.”

Now everyone turned and stared at him, not entirely sure what he was talking about but nonetheless extremely confused that he would turn down a talking face in a tube offering some sort of legendary power. For train-based music.

Clearing his throat, Zordon asked, “...Are you sure? The fate of the entire world rests on your should-”

“Yes, yes. I’m sure!” CaptainNeuvo interjected as he threw one arm up in the air. “Now can you hurry up and send me back? Rover has probably already started without me…”

Before he could continue, a brilliant flash of light once again appeared over his form and in an instant CaptainNuevo was gone:

Zordon glanced down at Alpha 5 in surprise as he had never teleported someone out without his permission before. He noticed the little robot had his hands over the keyboard and was staring at the keys solemnly and without moving, something that was very uncharacteristic of him. The two of them had been together for so long that Zordon practically knew what his companion was thinking without even asking:

This was going to be a lot harder than they thought.

Rules:

Fundamental
1. All site-wide rules are also applicable here. Please do not tarnish this community.
2. Unless your Role PM explicitly allows you to do otherwise, discussion about this game is strictly confined to this thread.
3. Unless your role PM explicitly allows you to do otherwise, you can not directly quote or post screenshots of any PMs or posts that were not made in this thread. This includes direct quotes or screenshots of Role PMs. A violation of this rule may result in a Modkill.
4. Within reason, you are allowed to lie about any game material or game-related conversations that could conceivably have appeared outside this thread [such as the content of role PMs or private chats allowed by a role]. If unsure whether a lie is reasonable, please ask the game-runner.
5. Do not refer to or discuss other player’s activity in other forum threads or life in general beyond the game. Please do not use this information for in-game purposes.
6. The player list includes the preferred personal pronoun of each player. Please try to use the correct pronoun.
7. Please be nice to your fellow players. Mafia can be a tense experience, and occasionally aggressive play is useful, but remember this is game and that everyone should have fun. Repeated aggressive action will be warned by a Mod and if that is ignored may result in a Modkill or a Replacement Player being sought.

Activity and Deadlines
8. Treat this game as a commitment. Remember that other players' fun is dependent on your participation; this game only works if you remain reasonably active.
9. If you do not post in this thread at least ten posts per Day Phase period without prior permission, you will be sent a warning via PM. If you fail to meet the ten posts per Day Phase minimum again after receiving a warning you will be Replaced and removed from the game.
10. If you need an extended period of absence for some other issues in life, please notify the game-runner by PM in advance. Leave of up to one Day and Night Phase (seven days) is possible.
11. If you expect to be unable to post for a period of 7 days, please notify the game-runner by PM so that you can be replaced in good time - we're sad to see you go, but other players need to be able to continue to play.
12. If a Phase ends and the game-runner has not received an action PM from a player with a relevant action, then that Phase will end with that that player making no action.
13. In the event of a day ending with no player having a plurality of the votes, then the game will proceed to the next night phase with nobody lynched ("no-lynch").
14. If a replacement is needed, they may PM the game-runner once to request the Night Phase in which they join is extended by up to 2 days, to allow catch-up time.
15. Game-runners may change the length of Phases at their discretion. However, they will inform players at the start of the equivalent Phase before (i.e., if Day 7 is set to be shortened, players will be no later than the start of Day 6).

Voting, Lynching, and Death
18. For your vote to count, it must be presented in the following format: VOTE: playername, via use of the Highlight Tag. It must also be in an entirely separate line from any other text.
19. Unless specified by the game-runner, any votes outside of this formatting will not be counted. This includes changes in Size, Color, or Font Family.
20. To remove a vote from a player, you must present in the following format: UNVOTE: playername, via use of the Highlight Tag. It must also be in an entirely separate line from any other text. It is not necessary to unvote before casting new vote for a different player; unvoting is simply to remove a vote without casting a new one.
21. Players may use VOTE: No Lynch to end the Day Phase without a lynch ("No Lynch"). It must also be in an entirely separate line from any other text.
22. Misspelt votes will be accepted within reason; if the game-runner is unsure they will notify you and in the meanwhile discount the vote. Votes in broken tags will not count.
23. Once someone has received a strict majority (>50%) of the available votes, the day ends with the Lynch of that player or a No Lynch (whichever applies). Once this has happened, any further votes or unvotes that Phase will not be counted, and the Night Phase will begin shortly.
24. Some roles take place between the end of the Day Phase and the start of the Night Phase, so game-runners may allow a short period of time for this "Twilight Phase". Unless your role PM explicitly allows you to do otherwise, do not post during the Twilight Phase.
25. Once you are dead, you are dead: you may no longer discuss the game in ANY manner with ANY of the remaining players. Dead players may PM the game-runner one last message for the other players (a "Will"), which the game-runner will post on their behalf in the thread. The sole condition is that it contains NO game-relevant information, e.g. "Thanks guys for an excellent game!" is allowed, "My partner was John!" is not.

The Spectator Thread
26. To allow dead players to freely discuss the game with other dead players, a secret thread will be created.
27. On death, a player can either opt to join the replacement list, or receive a link to the Spectator Thread. They may not do both. If a player opted to join the replacement list, they may change their mind, but players who have a link to the Spectator Thread cannot act as replacements.

Other
28. Outside of explicit allowances made by role PMs, the use of the Highlight Tag is strictly for Gamerunners. Do not use it.
29. Be aware that some people may find some font color/size changes very difficult to read. If you choose to use a different font size or color than the default, be ready to change it if someone requests it.
30. Do not edit your posts. If you are a repeat offender, a replacement will be sought.
31. Do not use formatting to hide extra content in your text.
32. A list of the votes so far (a "Vote Count") can be requested by contacting any game-runner or game-tutor.
33. Game-runners reserve the right to add, remove, or modify existing any rules at any point, and enforcement may be applied retrospectively. However, all players will be informed of changes, and changes will be consistent across games.
34. In general, do not try and exploit loopholes in the rules.

Game-Specific Rules:
1. Because this is a game that is an experiment against the meta, we are encouraging people not to guess real identities. There is no rule banning it, however.
2. The Replacement List has been hidden to ensure that the identity of the person who is replacing someone is kept a secret.
3. Due to the Replacement List being hidden, you may not reveal your Player Identity to anyone outside of this thread. Doing so may result in a Mod Kill.
4. We are taking precautions so people don't accidentally post under their Real account, but if that should happen please contact Pedro, Myself, and/or Melonrabbit immediately. Depending on how long the post has been up we will decide further action.
5. All Night Actions MUST be submitted through your 'dummy' account.
6. If you run into any issues logging into your 'dummy' account, please message myself or Melonrabbit immediately.

Due to the nature of this game where Account Names are also a Player's Role Name, we have randomly assigned Alignments and their subsequent Power Roles. This means that just because an account is named after a Villain from the show does not automatically mean they are Anti-Town or a Power Role, similarly just because an account is named after a Hero from the show does not automatically mean they are Town or a Power Role. For a breakdown, please click below:

To begin we listed 20 Account Names in our game document sheet. From that list we assigned Alignments using a Random Number Generator to randomly assign them between the 20 names. Afterwards we split the respective Alignments into their groups, once again using a Random Number Generator to randomly assign Power Roles in their given Alignment groups. This list was then randomized again to produce the final Player List.

Players were then assigned to their respective account using RNG.

Last time on Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers!

The evil Witch Rita Repulsa had broken free from her eternal prison on the moon! With her monstrous allies such as the mighty warrior Goldar, devious scientist Finster, and two wicked guards Squatt and Baboo - Rita is ready to launch her attack on an unsuspecting Earth!

Luckily, the great Zordon of Eltar and his mechanical assistant Alpha 5 stayed on Earth to make sure the blue planet would be prepared for her return! Calling together 5 of Earth’s Greatest MafiEra players, Zordon plans to imbue them with the legendary power that will turn them into the Power Rangers!

However, one of these chosen has turned down the opportunity to protect Earth and now the team is incomplete. Without all 5 members, the Power Rangers stand little chance against the evil might of Rita and her army of monsters. But before Zordon and Alpha 5 can find a replacement the Witch makes her presence known by sending a Monster to nearby Angel Grove!

Choosing the number 5 seems tacky, so I will go with number 2.

As far as random rolls to determine votes go, I understand the need to generate conversation, but admitting that the vote was completely random via dice roll kinda sucks all of the potentiom for debate out of it.

I'm not sure what else there is to do though. We need to generate some discussion, and the only way to do that is to apply some vote pressure. What bothers me is that we already have some people stealing other people's joke vote ideas.
