I'm an Easter egg sprite. If I use all my abilities in order, people who are nice to me get rewarded. It's incredibly vague. Any asks about specifically what it means or whether it targets someone aren't able to be answered.

I needed to play on a way that would keep me safe from night kills, i.e. be seen slightly scummy.

The party followed the main road in the Azarath Plains all day. After they got outside of town they lost sight of any additional footprints but they all had a sneaking suspicion they were on the right path. However as the day went along they discovered no more clues and they started to have doubts.

RANDOM ENCOUNTER!

A pack of wild, deranged rabbits came out of nowhere and started attacking the party. The party was able to fight them off but not without loss. After the fight had concluded they noticed that it seemed like the rabbits were specifically targeting Captain as most of the rabbit corpses were around his now lifeless body.

The party settled in for a quiet night under the stars. However as the night went along bad weather started blowing in, causing everyone to huddle together by the one fire they could keep going for what little warmth they could gain. None of them realized, however, that one of their party was missing and it was not until dawn when the weather broke that they discovered the body of HP.

As they party searched around HP's body for clues they once again noticed footprints leading from it and so once again the party set out to follow those footsteps through the plains.

nin told the truth about there being a night chat, I was invited to that last night. After the night ended it disappeared from my forum just like he claimed so everything I can write about it is from memory.
The weird thing about it is that it wasn't a typical gossip. It was primarily a shop where I could buy stuff from them which is pretty funny with my "slip" on D1 lol. I didn't have to buy anything tho so we could've just used it as a shop.
They told me what they had for sale and being the stupid and careful guy I am I went for an old newspaper. It told me that Captain died. Thx newspaper. It was apparently due to wild rabbits so I dunno if that helps anyone here.

I can't really blame Cap for being a bit checked out with a role set like that - it's the sort of situation where you need to stay clean for a long time without getting picked off by scum or a suspicious vig in the process, which is no easy task. I imagine the final reward might have given an advantage to players who'd never voted for Cap or something like that.

So being fully transparent here, that line towards the bottom of my PM that says something about being able to learn and use one night action in the same night didn't actually imply that I start my chat by sending a command at night, it turns out that's a generic line all PMs get. Learned my Tier 1 and I have to send the command for a chat during the day before. So, no chat yet. My mistake.

I’m not going to lie, even on catch up after the day had ended, I would have just doubled down on Coppa. The claim was awkward and I didn’t believe it on read at all.

Muffin doesn’t shock me at all, it makes no mechanical sense for him to be able to learn and start a night chat in the same night so I don’t really see the clarification as stalling. It’s still the same claim that I don’t feel great about.

That shop is interesting. I’m not sure why nin framed it the way he did but I’m fairly certain nin is town which tells me he just didn’t read like usual

Im beginning to think there’s a pattern here of JOATs that have pieces of other peoples roles and then specialized versions where the person just has all three abilities of the same flavor that get progressively stronger. You might finally have a point because I don’t think HP’s role is quite JOAT-like enough to the specialized version that Ty’s sounds like

Sorry to disagree but that's a no small detail to overlook. In the last hours of D2 it didn't occur to you to ask before it was too late? (I admit it didn't occur to me either, but this isn't my role)

So the 'shop' sounds to me like a way to sell junk and clock up extra XP in the process. Ty, can you remember what any of the other items were and what they cost? This all sounds like a way for scum to steal XP from townies, so I think it would be interesting if all the options could have been duds and how much XP the shopkeeper could have gained.

Completely missed day end, but I don’t think it was going to have changed anything. Without a scum flip it’s hard to say anything with confidence, but I find it unlikely they don’t have at least one player that are gunning for exp so I find myself wanting to dig more into the four players that haven’t missed a chance for it so far. I do think Nin was being honest yesterday, especially with Ty corroborating it, which makes me feel a little better there. I’ll try and look over all four though.

I’ll be honest in that I just simply not devoting a ton of time to this, because I just don’t have a shit ton. As long as I’m meeting the requirements though and at least following along I think that’s fine so meh.

If it's an inherent ability, I could see that role working as a neutral position as well. If the purpose is to get people to hand over XP, could the player have a win condition to accumulate a certain amount of XP over the course of the game?

We agreed on a price so none of them had a fixed price
I could only buy one (this was a confirmed limitation of the role)

The items as I remember them were:
  • A small piece of paper
  • An energy drink (or just energy? at least something with energy)
  • An old newspaper
  • A vial with a colored liquid in it (two colors, white and green maybe?)
They did not know what any of them did so I was a bit wary of them. I figured the last one was high risk high reward and tried to go for information instead.

The moment I even got the slightest doubt about it which I expressed in the thread nin did his disappearing chat claim. So I was a bit distracted especially with the day so close to the end

I wouldn't be surprised if one of those liquid options would have been poisonous. Blarg says he's been poisoned, Neon had a 'healer' shot for 6 XP rather than the usual doctor role, so poisoning might be a running danger in this game.

That's a good point.
Relatedly I assume the poison, if mafia, also cost a bit. Couldn't have been 6xp unless mafia have some other way of gaining xp.

I'm still wary of Geno, want to see him do more than throw 1 dimensional shade.
I am not scumreading Aeleus and thought sneeks' latest posts were decent, but I need to get more from them today.
I've become wary of melon. Not read deeply there, but I haven't seen what feels like town motivation from them yet.
Lastly Sorian felt pretty distant yesterday. A lot of that was probably IRL stuff, but that really feels like a slot where mafia could be hiding and I need to get a better read there.

This is a known bug with the vote tool. I found a fix for it a long time ago (so long I forgot what it was except it was a classic off by one error), but I can't remember why we didn't get it fixed. Probably because I forgot to tell Fireblend. Besides it's not a critical part of the tool.

I've become wary of melon. Not read deeply there, but I haven't seen what feels like town motivation from them yet.
Lastly Sorian felt pretty distant yesterday. A lot of that was probably IRL stuff, but that really feels like a slot where mafia could be hiding and I need to get a better read there.

That’s fine, was going to quote you anyway because I’m confused. Do you know who the shop keeper is? I don’t actually want their identity but I’m trying to gauge if this is a scum or neutral thing and I feel like if it was, their identity would be hidden.

I was deliberatin' to shoot my 98%-chance-to-hit-Miss at either u or malus, u won out as my target bc Smart!Me concluded that scum (read: u et al) would have one of their players with lower EXP carry out their Night-kill (me (foolishly?) Assuming tho that a scum can't execute their NK + use their EXP ability simultaneously in the same Nite)

According to my calculations last Night you only had 3 EXP, compared to my scum!pool:

Zipped had 4 EXP
Sorian had 4 EXP
malus had 5 EXP
melon had 4 EXP
